How to Host a Successful Yard Sale in The Sims 4

After tending a large garden, making canned goods, and foraging for mushrooms, your Sims’ inventory can fill up with fruits and veggies. One of the easiest and most lucrative ways to free up some space is by hosting a yard sale.

You can sell all sorts of things: baked goods, canned food, flowers, or just stuff your Sims don’t need anymore.

Setting Up a Yard Sale

First, you’ll need a special yard sale table. This isn’t in the base game, so you need Eco Lifestyle, Jungle Adventure, or City Living. Find the table under Activities and Skills and place it on your lot. The table has its own inventory, so you just drag items you want to sell into it.

When your Sim tends the table, you can mark up prices and start the sale. You can increase prices up to 300 percent, which can make yard sales surprisingly profitable. The table also slows down food from spoiling, though it doesn’t stop it completely.

Making Big Money

Orchid arrangements and fizz juice are some of the most lucrative items you can sell. Orchid bouquets, especially pink ones, can sell for over 20,000 Simoleons.

With the Marketable reward trait and a 300% markup, you can make close to 30,000 per bouquet.

Fizz juice also sells well, but you need Eco Lifestyle and should refrigerate it first, or it will spoil fast and drive customers away.

Tips for a Smooth Sale

If your Sim has level 10 Charisma, it can really boost your yard sale success. Confident Sims, especially those with the Outgoing trait, are better at convincing customers to pay higher prices for your items. They can charm shoppers, making it easier to get top Simoleons for flowers, produce, and other goods.

Always lock your doors. Townies and NPCs will wander in if you don’t, and Kleptomaniacs might start taking things from your house. Locking up keeps the focus on your yard sale and prevents chaos inside.

A yard sale is a great way to turn all that extra produce into Simoleons, clear inventory space, and have some fun with your Sims’ entrepreneurial side.

Happy Simming!
