Curious if you can make your Sims drink until they’re totally drunk? Keep reading to find out.
In The Sims 4, Sims cannot technically get drunk in the base game, but they experience the effects of alcohol. While they can consume drinks, there is no explicit “drunk” moodlet or state that reflects intoxication.
However, if a Sim drinks excessively, they may experience negative effects such as needing to use the bathroom more frequently and receiving a moodlet indicating they feel sick.
The Mixology skill touches on the idea of drinking but does not include explicit drunkenness.
As your Sim has a few drinks, they’ll start feeling happier, thanks to a cheerful moodlet. But keep the drinks coming, and that happy moodlet can quickly turn into one showing your Sim is feeling sick.
Sims Get Dazed
If a Sim drinks too much coffee, juice, or even the fizzy beverages from the Eco Lifestyle pack, they can get a Dazed moodlet. It’s similar to the “tipsy” effects of alcohol, but without the specific alcohol reference.
Being dazed or tipsy doesn’t change how your Sim interacts with others.
Interestingly, when your Sim visits a bar or a place where drinks are available, they often help themselves to a drink. Even though they’ll drink alcohol, they won’t get drunk.
If you’re okay with using mods and custom content, there are mods available that can make your Sims actually get drunk. If you’re curious about how your Sims would behave when intoxicated, you can install a mod that supports this behavior.
⇒ Fun Fact:
- Players of The Sims 2 will remember that Sims could become very drunk and even collapse if they drank too much.
The Sims 4 is rated T, suitable for players 13 and older, which is likely why explicit drunkenness isn’t included. The game is designed to stay family-friendly, and letting Sims actually get drunk would push it into a higher, “Mature” rating. This is clearly something the developers wanted to avoid.
Happy Simming!
