Sims with certain traits, like Romantic or Flirty, are more likely to initiate successful romantic interactions with Sims they have a good relationship with.
However, it won’t lead to full-blown relationships, such as truly falling in love, without your intervention.
How to Find the Perfect Match for Your Sim
If you own Growing Together, the game has an official Compatibility System.
To check how compatible your Sim is with another Sim, click on that Sim, select Open Sim Profile, and check the compatibility bar color.
- Green bar = Good Compatibility
- Yellow bar = Neutral
- Red bar = Bad Compatibility
High compatibility makes romance easier and relationships more stable.
Compatibility is based on the traits Sims have, their Likes and Dislikes, as well as their aspirations and lifestyle choices.
In The Sims 4, traits strongly influence personality, moodlets, autonomy, and interactions. Some traits make romance easier while others can create tension.
Choosing complementary traits is key to finding the best romantic match for your Sim.
Complementary traits lead to happier relationships. Avoid traits that constantly generate negative moods when together, such as Neat and Slob, Hot-Headed and Good.

Personally, I’m all for free will, but I’m not sure I have the patience for it!
If EA were to implement this feature, some important adjustments would be necessary. Sims currently take quite a while to develop friendships autonomously, let alone romantic relationships.
