If you’re trying to complete the Fishing aspiration or finish the Fish collection in The Sims 4, you’ll eventually need to visit some of the hidden fishing spots. Some rare fish can only be caught in these secret areas.
There are three hidden areas where your Sim can go fishing:
- Forgotten Grotto in Oasis Springs
- Sylvan Glade in Willow Creek
- Deep Forest in Granite Falls, which requires Outdoor Retreat
Sims with level 8 or higher in the Fishing skill can also spot sparkling fishing signs.
These indicate fishing spots where rare fish can be caught.
Forgotten Grotto is a hidden area in Oasis Springs. Your Sim needs level 10 Handiness to open the entrance.
Go to Desert Bloom Park and look for the bathroom area near the picnic area. You’ll find the entrance to the abandoned mine in the rocks.
Break through the wooden boards and follow the path through the cave. You’ll eventually need to climb a ladder and travel through the opening to reach Forgotten Grotto.
Once you’re there, you can fish in the hidden fishing spot and look for some of the rarer fish.
Sylvan Glade is the hidden area in Willow Creek.
Find the Mysterious Tree and interact with it. You’ll need to water the tree and compliment its leaves three times before the entrance becomes available.
Enter the tree, explore the area, and eventually you’ll reach the pond where your Sim can fish.
Sylvan Glade is also one of the places where you can catch Anglerfish.
You’ll need Outdoor Retreat to access Deep Forest.
Travel to Granite Falls National Park and explore the area until you find the option to Go Through the Web.
This takes your Sim into the hidden Deep Forest area. Once you’re there, find the fishing spot and start fishing for rare catches such as the Mountain Lionfish.
Deep Forest has more than just fishing, too. You can find the Hermit there and befriend them, which can also give your Sim access to Herbalism recipes.
