If your Sim is working on the Freelance Botanist aspiration, you’ll eventually need to evolve 10 plants to Excellent quality.
Evolving plants improves their quality, which means you can harvest better crops, herbs, and flowers.
If you’re struggling to get your plants to Excellent quality, the fertilizer you’re using could be the problem.
Your Sim needs at least level 2 Gardening to fertilize plants.
For faster results, use fish as fertilizer.
Rare fish such as Rainbowfish, Batfish, Sturgeon, and Treefish are particularly useful for improving plant quality.
You don’t have to use high-quality fish, though. Even poor-quality or foul fish can be used as fertilizer.
Once a plant is ready to evolve, you’ll see it sparkling. Click on the plant and select Evolve.
You can also use the Great Soil lot trait to help your Sim grow higher-quality plants.
Ask a Golden Chicken to make your plants perfect.
If you have Cottage Living, a Golden Chicken can make your gardening much easier.
Ask the Golden Chicken for help, and it can go through your garden and make the plants Perfect quality.
Since Perfect is above Excellent, having a Golden Chicken help with your garden can help you complete the Freelance Botanist aspiration faster.
After eating a Golden Egg, your Sim gains the ability to make plants Perfect.
Golden Eggs and Golden Milk can also temporarily give your Sim the ability to improve plant quality.
If you’re planning to evolve a lot of plants, it’s worth leveling up both Gardening and Fishing.
For Gardening, have your Sim spend time tending their plants. Planting, watering, weeding, fertilizing, and dealing with bugs will all help build the skill.
For Fishing, simply spend time fishing at different locations. You can also ask another Sim to mentor your Sim to speed up skill gains.
Being Focused can also help your Sim gain skills faster.
Once your Sim has decent levels in both Gardening and Fishing, evolving plants becomes much easier because you’ll have access to better fertilizers and can catch useful fish yourself.
