Thunderstorms are part of the Sims 4 Seasons expansion. They can really stress Sims out, especially if they keep getting the Scared of Thunderstorms moodlet. When this happens, Sims may panic, run around, or refuse to follow your instructions.
Here’s how to get rid of the Scared of Thunderstorms buff in no time.
Get the Right Traits
Get the Storm Chaser Reward Trait
The most reliable fix is the Storm Chaser reward trait. You can buy it with Satisfaction Points in the Rewards Store. Sims with Storm Chaser actually enjoy thunderstorms and will not get scared at all.
Other traits can reduce the problem but not fully remove it.
The Brave trait lowers how strongly Sims react to fear, but it does not make them immune to storm fear.
Sims who Love the Outdoors will rarely get scared of thunderstorms.
Sims who are Self-Assured or in a Confident emotion when a thunderstorm starts won’t get the Scared of Thunderstorms buff either.
If your Sim talks to another Sim and says they love rain, it instantly removes the fear.
Keeping Sims indoors helps. Sims are much less likely to panic when they are inside during a storm, especially if windows and doors are closed and they are distracted by other fun activities.
However, some adult Sims can still get scared of storms even if they are safely inside a building.
You can get rid of the Scared buff by replacing it with a positive emotion. This trick works especially well with toddlers, though it also works on adults. Toddlers just respond faster, so you’ll see results more quickly.
Disable Thunderstorms
You can also turn thunderstorms off completely. Go to Game Options, then Environment, and disable thunderstorms. Rain and snow can stay on if you want, but storms will be history.
Happy Simming!
