Making it rain in The Sims 4 is easier than it seems, especially if you have Seasons installed. There are a few ways to do it, and each works a little differently.
Use Dr. June’s Weather Control Device
The fastest method is Dr. June’s Weather Control Device. It costs 1,500 Simoleons, and any Sim can use it. Just pick the rain option, and the weather changes instantly.
Sims with low Handiness can sometimes get electrocuted while using it, so maybe don’t let a newbie handle it alone.
Tweak In-Game Options
You can also tweak the weather through the in-game options. Go to Options, and under the Seasons tab, there’s a rain setting that lets you trigger rain whenever you like.
If you want to rain constantly, moving to Brindleton Bay is a simple trick you can use.
Use Weather Cheats
ress the Control, Shift, and C keys to enable the cheats console. Then, type in testingcheats on.
There are six weather cheats that you can use to make it rain in The Sims 4.
- weather.start_weather_event weather_rain_light_cool
- weather.start_weather_event weather_rain_light_warm
- weather.start_weather_event weather_rain_storm_cold
- weather.start_weather_event weather_rain_storm_warm
- weather.start_weather_event weather_rain_heavy_warm
- weather.start_weather_event weather_rain_heavy_cold
You can also use mods like MCCC to control the weather for long periods.
How Rain Affects Sims
Rain affects Sims in different ways. Most enjoy it, playing around or taking a shower outside. Some Sims get uncomfortable if they’re wet, while others who hate rain can get angry.
Thunderstorms can even scare Sims who aren’t Storm Chasers. Traits like Storm Chaser and Waterproof help a lot for Sims who spend time outdoors, and carrying an umbrella prevents the Uncomfortable buff.
Umbrella racks can be added in Build Mode so Sims can grab one when it starts raining. Spring and fall are the rainiest seasons, so that’s when umbrellas and rain-ready Sims are most useful.
Rain helps plants too, but only if they’re outdoors and not under a roof or right next to walls. Plants tucked under eaves won’t get much water.
Happy Simming!
