How to Put Out Fires Quickly and Save Your Sims

The Sims 4 is a lot like real life when it comes to accidents. Fires can break out, and when Sims see one, they often panic instead of acting right away.

Because of that, they might just stand there and end up getting burned. And yes, if things get bad enough, a Sim can actually die in a fire.

How to Stop a Fire in The Sims 4

Use a Fire Extinguisher

When a fire breaks out, click on your adult Sim and then click on the tile that’s on fire.

Choose the option to extinguish it and hope for the best. Not all Sims are successful, so fingers crossed!

Remember, only adult Sims can handle fire extinguishing. Kids and teenagers can’t help.

Try the Sim Ray

In The Sims 4: Get to Work, you can build a Sim Ray, which is a special invention your Sim can create. Its main feature is the Freeze Gun, and it’s really useful because it can put out fires much faster than a regular fire extinguisher.

To get one, your Sim has to work in the science career.

Do This if Your Sim Is on Fire

If your Sim catches on fire, you need to act quickly. The faster you respond, the better their chances of putting out the flames and staying alive.

First, cancel the panic action in their queue, so they stop freaking out.

Then click directly on the Sim who’s on fire and choose Extinguish Self.

Another option is to direct your Sim to take a shower immediately to extinguish the flames. The sooner you do this, the better the chances of saving them.

If they’re unable to use the fire extinguisher on themselves, have another Sim put the fire out. Doing that will give them a confident moodlet, which is a nice bonus.

Don’t rely on the fire department. If the fire has been burning for a while, they might show up too late. Having another Sim step in right away can save the Sim engulfed in flames.

Causes of Fires in The Sims 4

Campfires: Objects placed too close to a campfire can catch fire. Additionally, Sims standing too close to the fire may also ignite.

Incense Holders: Lighting an incense holder can lead to nearby cloth and wood items catching fire.

Low Skills: Sims with low cooking or rocket science skills may accidentally start fires while cooking or building a rocket ship.

Fireworks Indoors: Using fireworks indoors can result in fires.

Children’s Science Lab: Occasionally, things in the children’s science lab may catch fire.

Dust Bunnies: Dust bunnies may explode, causing fires on the roof of your house.

Preventing Fires in The Sims 4

  1. Install Sprinklers:
    • Place sprinklers in your household. If a fire starts, they’ll activate automatically, preventing the flames from spreading.
    • Note: Exterior sprinklers cover the whole floor, while interior ones only cover the room they’re in.
  2. Use Fire Alarms:
    • Install fire alarms throughout your house. These handy devices will sound an alarm if they detect a fire, alerting your Sims to take action promptly.
  3. Pair Alarms with Sprinklers:
    • If you have both fire alarms and sprinklers, they’ll work together seamlessly. When the alarm goes off, the sprinklers will start immediately.

Are There Firefighters in The Sims 4?

Yes, there are two NPC firefighters in every world except Sulani. In Sulani, neighbors will assist in firefighting since there are no firefighters in that world.

The firefighters will automatically arrive if a smoke detector activates. Your Sims can also call firefighters for help using the phone.

Happy Simming!
