How to Marry The Grim Reaper in The Sims 4

The Grim Reaper is a pretty unique character in The Sims 4. As strange as it sounds, a lot of players actually enjoy interacting with him.

If you like him enough that you’re wondering whether you can marry the Grim Reaper, this guide walks you through everything you need to know. After all, any game that lets you befriend or even flirt with Death itself is bound to spark some curiosity.

By the way, this guide is divided into two parts:

  • You only own the base game: covers what tricks you can use to marry the Reaper
  • You own Life & Death: explains how your Sim can actually build a romantic relationship with Grim

You can jump straight to the second part if you own the Life & Death expansion pack.

Part 1: You Only Own the Base Game

The quickest way to marry the Grim Reaper in The Sims 4 is to use mods and cheats. Your Sim can interact with the Reaper, but their interactions are limited to basic flirting. They won’t even have the option for a first kiss.

If you don’t want to use cheats, there’s a loophole you can use.

To marry the Grim Reaper without using cheats, you need another Sim in the household, besides the one you want to marry Grim, and that Sim has to know the Grim Reaper.

Then, you might get a pop-up saying Grim found a ring in that Sim’s bag, asking if they should get engaged.

Once you get engaged, you can marry him.

In The Sims 4, the Grim Reaper is male. His appearance and actions support this. However, both male and female Sims can flirt with the Grim Reaper without any issues if they want to seduce him.

Seducing the Grim Reaper in The Sims 4

Step 1: Choose a Sim to sacrifice. The Grim Reaper appears when a Sim is about to die, so pick who will meet their fate.

Step 2: Select a method to kill your Sim. You can set them on fire, electrocute them, starve them, overexert them, or even let them die from woohoo. Alternatively, you can neglect their needs until their health declines.

Step 3: Decide which Sim will seduce the Reaper. Both male and female Sims can do this.

Step 4: Carry out the death and ensure the seducing Sim is present when the Reaper shows up.

Step 5: Start flirting when the Grim Reaper arrives. Even though he may claim he’s not interested in love, persist in flirting with him, even if your family mourns the death nearby.

Eventually, you’ll gain enough attention from the Reaper for his love bar to fill up, and he’ll feel comfortable spending time with your Sim. At this point, a series of options will appear, including the option to sit together.

However, keep in mind that the Reaper might disappear before you reach this stage or shortly after his love bar fills up. If this happens, you’ll need to sacrifice another Sim to lure him back and continue flirting.

But here’s the catch: while you can flirt, chat, or dance with the Reaper, you can’t seduce him into woohooing with your Sim. This is one of the actions the Grim Reaper can’t perform in The Sims 4 base game.

If you want your Sim to woohoo with the Grim Reaper, you’ll need to remove the reaper trait, or you can use MCCC to take it to the next level and marry him.

Bring the Grim Reaper into Your Household

To marry the Grim Reaper in The Sims 4, you’ll need to bring him into your household first.

  1. Press and hold CTRL + ⇧ Shift + C to open the cheat console.
  2. Type testingcheats true and press Enter to enable cheats.
  3. Next, type cas.fulleditmode and press Enter. This allows you to edit the Grim Reaper’s appearance and traits.
  4. Shift-click on the Grim Reaper and select Add to Family from the menu. This will add him to your household.

Once the Grim Reaper is in your household, you can control him like any other Sim. You can now have him marry one of your Sims.

Once you add him to your household, he stops being the Grim Reaper. The game then spawns a new NPC Grim Reaper to take his place.

Alternatively, you can use mods like MCCC to facilitate marrying the Grim Reaper.

How to Have a Baby with the Grim Reaper

In the standard version of the game, Sims cannot try for a baby with the Grim Reaper. However, players can add the Grim Reaper to their households using cheats and then use additional cheats to make any Sim pregnant by any other Sim, including the Grim Reaper.

Trying for a baby is one of the actions that the Grim Reaper cannot do, along with sleeping or walking.

To enable a Sim to become pregnant by the Grim Reaper, you’ll need to use a mod like Wicked Whims.

Step 1: Install the Wicked Whims mod.

Step 2: Kill a Sim to attract the Grim Reaper to your household.

Step 3: Pause the game when the Grim Reaper appears to collect the soul of the deceased Sim.

Step 4: Use testing cheats to enable the Add to Family option.

Step 5: Adjust the pregnancy chance setting in the Wicked Whims mod settings to a high number.

Step 6: Use the mod to initiate woohoo between your Sim and the Grim Reaper.

Your Sim should now be pregnant with the Grim Reaper’s child. You can then move the Grim Reaper out of the household so he can continue his regular duties.

Once the new Sim is born, the Grim Reaper will appear as the father in the family tree.

How to Remove the Grim Reaper from Your Household

If you’re ready to part ways with the Grim Reaper in The Sims 4, follow these steps to remove him from your household:

  1. Enable cheats by pressing Ctrl + Shift + C.
  2. Type “testingcheats true” into the cheat console and press Enter.
  3. Type “move_object on” and press Enter to enable the move objects cheat.
  4. Click on the Grim Reaper Sim to select him.
  5. Press the Delete key on your keyboard to remove him from the household.

If there are any traces of the Grim Reaper left, such as a tombstone or urn, delete them.

Part 2: You Own Life & Death

With Life and Death, you can also marry Grim at the Thinned Festival in Mourningvale. You can Woohoo with him in a crypt at the festival and even have a child.

At your home lot, trying to marry Grim there shows as inappropriate. Grim interactions are easiest in special Life and Death locations rather than your own lot.

If you only want to have a baby with him, you can join the Reaper career, which lets you meet the Grim Reaper directly at work. You don’t need to sacrifice any Sims to interact with him.

Then raise the romance meter high enough. Once it’s up, the Try for Baby option will appear in the Romance section.

By the way, his babies get a scythe birthmark on their necks, and really long life spans.

Once the baby grows into a kid, there’s an 80 percent chance they may get a phone call from Grim, asking about a proposal. If you choose “Yes,” your Sim will then get the option to plan a wedding with Grim.

I suggest you elope immediately after the phone call to avoid all the wedding-related glitches that have been plaguing The Simms 4 for years.

Having a child with Grim helps speed up the marrying process, as it’s like the child wants their father to marry your Sim.

You can also turn on cheats to force the Grim Reaper into your household. Once he’s part of your family, you can have him propose to your Sim directly.

Happy Simming!
