Sims can’t swim in ponds created with the pond tool, but they can wade and splash in the shallow areas of ponds. However, if you place a pool in a pond, your Sims will be able to swim there. Or build a pool and make it look like a pond.
In The Sims 4, there are two types of ponds: regular ponds with fish and desert ponds. To create one, go to the Build Menu, choose Ponds, and place it where you want.
You can also find pond objects in parks, but you’ll need to enable the bb.showhiddenobjects cheat to use them.
If you see Sims swimming in a “pond,” it’s usually just a small pool designed to look like one.
By the way, there’s a cute interaction in The Sims 4 that lets you dip your toddler’s feet into a pond.
Where Can Sims Swim?
They can swim in oceans, seas, lakes, pools, and under bridges. In The Sims 4: Island Living, they can even wade in water up to their knees or waist.
Sims can drown if they swim for too long, so make sure they take breaks and rest.
If your Sim can’t swim, check if they’re hydrophobic. These Sims really hate swimming and feel bad when they’re in water. They don’t like baths either, or woohooing in the shower.
But it makes sense, right? They just don’t like water.
How to Build a Fishing Pond in The Sims 4
You can create your own fishing pond in The Sims 4. First, build the pond using the terrain tools.
To stock your pond with fish in The Sims 4, go into Build Mode, open Outdoor Water Decor, select the Fishing Allowed Sign, and place it in the pond.
Next, go out into the world and catch some fish. Put them in your inventory, click the fishing sign in your pond, choose Stock Pond With Fish, and add the fish to your home pond.
If you don’t add fish to your pond, the option to fish will be greyed out.
You can also use Grocery Delivery to buy fish for your home pond.
However, if you want to stock your pond with rare fish, such as Rainbowfish or Angelfish, you’ll need to catch them in the wild. Rare fish can’t be bought through Grocery Delivery.
Happy Simming!
