After your Sim dies, the Grim Reaper will appear to collect their soul. He’ll check his tablet to confirm your Sim is on the list, and then he takes them to the afterlife.
However, sometimes the Grim Reaper may not show up right away. It could take a few hours, or in rare cases, he might not come at all.
Here’s what to do if the Grim Reaper doesn’t come to collect your Sim’s soul.
Trouble with Grim and Evil Chickens
If you’ve got Cottage Living, evil chickens can sometimes keep Grim away. He might be tangled up in a showdown by the chicken coop.
Evil chickens in the game are surprisingly feisty. They’ll often pick fights with the Grim Reaper, and sometimes he gets stuck in these never-ending battles with them.
Moving the Dead Sim
If Grim’s a no-show, try moving the dead Sim to a different lot before reloading the lot where they passed away. Many players found this quick trick solved the problem.
Is There Enough Space for Grim to Spawn?
If Grim isn’t showing up to collect souls, it might be because there isn’t enough room for him to appear. Usually, Grim can pass through walls and objects to do his job.
However, if the room where your Sim passed away is too cluttered, there might not be enough space for Grim to spawn.
For instance, if your Sim dies in a cramped corner of a cluttered room, Grim might struggle to show up there.
Getting the Ashes
To deal with this, try getting the ashes into your household inventory. You can do this by pressing Shift and clicking on the Sim, then selecting “reset Sim” or using the command “resetsim firstname lastname.”
This should let you grab their ashes.
The downside? You can’t plead for their lives with this method; that only works if Grim makes an appearance.
Happy Simming!
