Alien abductions are part of The Sims 4: Get to Work. The expansion adds aliens, the Scientist career, the ability to visit Sixam, and the alien abduction event.
The catch is that alien abductions are not something you can simply select from a menu whenever you feel like it. They are random events, although there are several things you can do to increase your Sim’s chances of being abducted.
Alien abductions happen at night. Your Sim needs to be at Logic Level 6 or 7 and be Focused for the “Search for the Truth” interaction to appear on the Telescope at night. Using this interaction gives your Sim a chance of being abducted by aliens.
When an abduction event starts, your Sim will stop what they are doing and investigate a strange light. They are then lifted into a UFO by a blue beam and taken away.
Your Sim returns a few hours later with an Abducted moodlet.
The game can also interrupt your Sim’s current queue when the abduction event begins. The Investigate Weird Light interaction normally can't be canceled once it has started, although blocking the Sim’s path to the strange light can prevent them from reaching it.
Do You Need Get to Work for Alien Abductions?
Yes. You need The Sims 4: Get to Work to have aliens and alien abductions in your game.
Get to Work introduced the Scientist career and the alien gameplay that comes with it. The pack also allows Sims to create aliens in Create a Sim and visit the alien homeworld, Sixam.
If you only have the base game, your Sims can't be abducted by aliens.
The easiest way to increase your chances is to have a Sim join the Scientist career. Scientists are more likely to experience alien abductions than Sims in other careers.
Certain objects can also increase the chances of an abduction. These include the Satellite Dish, Out of This World Desktop, Wormhole Generator, and space rocks.
The Satellite Dish and Out of This World Desktop can also be used to contact aliens, which can increase the chances of an abduction.
So if you’re deliberately trying to get your Sim abducted, having a Scientist Sim and access to these alien-related objects is a good place to start.
The game doesn’t provide a normal interaction that guarantees an abduction. Alien abductions are chance-based events.
You can increase the odds by using the Scientist career and the objects associated with alien activity, but doing these things does not guarantee that your Sim will be abducted.
Both male and female Sims can be abducted, and aliens can be abducted too.
However, alien abduction has an additional consequence for male Sims. A male Sim can return from an abduction pregnant with an alien baby. The chance of this happening is 25 percent. Female Sims who are abducted don't experience the alien pregnancy mechanic.
This makes alien abductions particularly interesting if you’re playing a male Sim and don’t mind a very unexpected addition to the household.
Can Teenage Sims Get Abducted by Aliens?
No. Teenage Sims can't experience the standard alien abduction event in the unmodded game.
If you’re playing a teenage Sim and want them to have an alien encounter, they can still interact with aliens through other Get to Work gameplay. However, the regular UFO abduction event is not available to teens.
Mods can change this restriction.
Not every player wants their Sims disappearing into UFOs in the middle of the night.
If you have a Satellite Dish, you can use it to prevent alien abductions for a limited period. The Satellite Dish can block abductions for up to 24 hours.
This can be useful if you’re tired of your Scientist Sim constantly being interrupted by alien activity.
