If you play with Seasons installed, umbrellas are way more useful than they first appear. Spring and fall come with a lot of rain, and Sims who get caught outside without an umbrella usually end up feeling uncomfortable. Sims who hate being outdoors can even get angry about it, which quickly snowballs into a bad day.
Umbrellas also pull double duty for vampire Sims. Until they unlock sun resistance, an umbrella is one of the few ways they can safely go outside during the day without risking serious damage.
How to Get an Umbrella
Getting an umbrella is simple, but you do need the Seasons expansion. Head into Build Mode, open Appliances, then look under Miscellaneous Appliances for the Umbrella Rack. Place it somewhere easy to reach, like the hallway or near the front door.
If you want to save time, you can also just type “umbrella” into the Build Mode search bar, and the rack will pop right up.
Once the rack is placed, click on it and choose the option to take an umbrella. That’s it.
Sharing and Style Options
The umbrella rack is cheap and costs only 100 Simoleons. One rack works for the whole household, and each Sim can pick their own umbrella from it.
There are plenty of styles to choose from, so it’s easy to match an umbrella to your Sim’s outfit or personality.
A Quick Safety Reminder
Umbrellas are great for rain and sunshine, but they will not protect your Sim from lightning. If a thunderstorm starts, get your Sim indoors as soon as possible.
Lightning strikes can be deadly, and that Scared by Thunderstorm moodlet is your warning sign to stay inside and wait it out.
Happy Simming!
