The Spice Festival is one of the festivals introduced with The Sims 4 City Living. It takes place in the Spice Market neighborhood of San Myshuno and gives your Sims a chance to try spicy food, learn new recipes, and buy ingredients.
You can also use the festival to help your Sim develop a tolerance for spicy food.
Your Sim can purchase spices from the festival’s food stalls. There are four types of spices available:
- Chilli Powder
- Curry
- Saffron
- Wasabi
Spices can be used as ingredients in certain recipes that your Sim can learn from eating food at the San Myshuno food stalls.
Your Sim can discover recipes by ordering and eating dishes from the food stalls around San Myshuno.
Once your Sim has learned a recipe, they can prepare it at home as long as they have the required ingredients and the appropriate Cooking skill.
You don’t need to buy every spice before learning a recipe. If you’re trying to unlock City Living recipes, the important part is to visit the food stalls and try different dishes.
There are numerous recipes associated with the San Myshuno food stalls, although spices aren’t required for every recipe.
Spices can reduce the cost of some recipes.
Some recipes that use spices have a lower ingredient cost when your Sim has the required spice available. This makes it useful to stock up on spices if your Sim regularly cooks dishes that use them.
Spice Hound isn’t a skill. It’s a reward trait your Sim can unlock by eating spicy food and gradually developing a tolerance to it.
When a Sim eats spicy food for the first time, they may experience an uncomfortable reaction because the food is too spicy.
Keep having your Sim eat spicy dishes, and they can eventually develop the Spice Hound trait.
Once your Sim has the Spice Hound trait, they can eat spicy foods without experiencing the same negative reactions associated with having a low spice tolerance.
This makes the trait particularly useful if your Sim regularly eats the spicy dishes available at the San Myshuno food stalls or cooks them at home.
The number of spicy meals required varies from Sim to Sim, so there isn’t a guaranteed number of meals that will unlock the trait.
The Spice Festival includes the Spicy Curry Challenge, where Sims compete to see who can handle an extremely spicy curry.
This is one of the quickest ways to work toward developing a tolerance for spicy food.
Have your Sim participate in the challenge and keep eating spicy food afterward if they haven’t unlocked the Spice Hound trait yet.
