Teen Sims can sneak out of the house in The Sims 4: High School Years, even when their parents have grounded them or set a curfew.
If your Sim wants to hang out with friends, go to a party, or complete the Sneak Out to a Party milestone for the Live Fast aspiration, you’ll need a way to get out of the house without using the front door.
First, make sure your house has an EZ Exit Window. Click the window and select Go to Hang Out With Friends.
Your Sim will climb through the window and sneak out of the house. If the window is on an upper floor, they’ll need a Rebellious Ivy Trellis ladder to get down.
You can also use the sneak-out interaction when your Sim has been grounded. In fact, sneaking out can be a useful way to ignore a parent’s restrictions and leave the house anyway.
You need two things to create a proper escape route:
- An EZ Exit Window
- A Rebellious Ivy Trellis ladder
The EZ Exit Window can be placed on any floor of your house. If you put it on the second floor or higher, you’ll need to add a trellis ladder outside.
There’s one important detail that can easily cause problems: your Sim can’t climb directly from the window onto the ladder. They need a small platform, terrace, or balcony to step onto first.
Place the Rebellious Ivy Trellis against the wall underneath the window, then make sure there’s a suitable surface between the window and ladder.
Sneaking out isn’t completely risk-free. If your Sim’s parents catch them, they won’t be happy about their teenager ignoring the rules.
If you’re trying to sneak out without getting caught, it can help to keep the escape route away from areas where your parents spend a lot of time.
If the Go to Hang Out With Friends option isn’t appearing or your Sim can’t use the window, check the escape route.
The most common problem is that there’s no surface for your Sim to step onto after climbing through the window. Remember, the Sim needs to step onto a terrace or balcony before they can use the trellis ladder.
Also make sure you have the correct EZ Exit Window and that the ladder is properly positioned underneath it.
How to Sneak Out to a Party
If you’re trying to complete the Sneak Out to a Party milestone for the Live Fast aspiration, you’ll first need to get invited to a party.
Having a good relationship with other teenage Sims can help you receive invitations to parties, movies, and sleepovers. Build friendships with your high school classmates and keep an eye on your Sim’s phone for invitations.
Once you receive a party invitation, use the EZ Exit Window to sneak out and join the fun.
