If you want to hide the Plumbob above your Sim’s head in The Sims 4, there are two ways to do it. The easiest option is to use a cheat, while the second method involves editing the game’s Default.ini file.

The easiest way to hide the Plumbob is to turn off headline effects.

Press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the Cheat Console, then enter:

testingcheats on
headlineeffects off

The Plumbob should disappear immediately.

This also hides other headline effects, so keep that in mind. If you want to turn them back on, open the Cheat Console and enter:
headlineeffects on

You can also remove the Plumbob by editing the game’s Default.ini file. Before changing any game files, make a backup so you can restore the original settings if something goes wrong.

Open your Sims 4 installation folder and locate Default.ini. You can use the folder’s search box if you can’t find it.

Open the file and change the Plumbob color values to:

playeractivecolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
otheractivecolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
notactivecolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
npccolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
interactionnegativecolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
interactionpositivelocalcolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
interactionpositivenonlocalcolor = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
motivestatered = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
motivestateorange = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
motivestateyellow = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
socialgroup = 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Setting the values to zero makes the Plumbob transparent.

The downside is that game updates can overwrite changes made to Default.ini, so you may need to edit the file again after updating The Sims 4.
