The prom event in The Sims 4 is held at the Copperdale High auditorium every Saturday or every two Saturdays, typically running from 7 PM to 11 PM. You can attend multiple prom events during your high school years. If your Sim isn’t in the best mood, you can skip the current event and get ready for the next one.
How your Sim prepares for prom night can have a positive or negative impact on their future relationships.
There are two titles Sims can win at prom: Prom Royalty and Prom Jester.
To become Prom Royalty in The Sims 4, you need to be very popular on social media and show up at the prom in a good mood. Negative emotions will make it very difficult, and even impossible, to win the award.
Your Sim needs at least Level 3 Charisma skill to be in the running at all. From there, a higher Charisma level increases the odds further. Sims with the Party Animal trait and those who are very popular on Social Bunny and Trendi also have better chances of getting voted as Prom Royalty.
Having a Sim age up from teen to young adult during prom using a birthday cake can boost their odds of winning too, though not as much as high Charisma does. Aging up naturally during the event doesn’t give the same boost.

I noticed that Ash Harjo gets voted as Prom Royalty all the time. They’re a style icon and Simfluencer, and they’re very popular. This pretty much explains why they keep winning.
To win the Prom Jester award, you need excellent Comedy skills. Your Sim needs at least Level 3 Comedy or Mischief skill just to qualify. Sims that have reached Level 7 of the Comedy skill or higher will often win the award, and having the Mischief skill helps too.
You can use the signboard to vote for the Prom Royalty and Jester awards. Select the signboard and click on Vote for Prom Royalty or Vote for Prom Jester. The game will then list all the prom participants eligible for those titles. Select the Sim you want to vote for.
Keep in mind you can’t vote for yourself. If you want to boost your own Sim’s chances, you’ll need another Sim in your household to cast a vote for them instead.
After gathering all the votes, the Copperdale High Principal will announce the winners near the end of the event. The selected Sims will get a special Prom Royalty crown or Jester hat, both of which become available in Create A Sim for your whole family once won. Winners also get a Confident moodlet.
Even if you don’t get the Prom Royalty or Prom Jester award, you can still win a Bronze, Silver, or Gold medal at prom. To win one of these, you need to complete as many prom tasks as possible before time runs out.

After the prom ends, you’ll be invited to join a quick afterparty at Plumbite Pier. You can go by yourself, bring some friends, or politely decline the invitation.
