Fishing can take a while in The Sims 4, especially when you’re trying to catch a specific rare fish. If you don’t want to spend hours waiting by a fishing spot, there are a few other ways to get fish.

You can get fish without actually fishing by using the Debug menu, buying certain fish from aquariums, or using the AllCheats mod to generate specific fish.

You can find fish in the Debug catalog without catching them yourself.

Open the Cheat Console with Ctrl + Shift + C and enter:

bb.showhiddenobjects

Then enter debug in the Build Mode search bar and select the first DEBUG option.

Scroll through the hidden objects until you find the fish. Select the fish you want and place it on your lot.

Keep in mind that the Debug menu gives you the fish as objects, so this method is mainly useful if you want to display them rather than add them to your Sim’s inventory.

Buy fish from an aquarium.

You can also buy a few types of fish directly from an aquarium.

Enter Build Mode and place a fish bowl or aquarium on your lot. Then return to Live Mode, click the aquarium, and select Purchase Fish.

The selection is limited. You can purchase Goldfish, Tetra, Guppy, and Bonefish this way.

Use the AllCheats mod.

If you use TwistedMexi’s AllCheats mod, you can use the objects.gsi_create_obj cheat to generate specific fish.

First, place two or three fish bowls on your lot. Then enter Live Mode and pause the game.

Open the Cheat Console with Ctrl + Shift + C and enter:

testingcheats true

You can then enter the appropriate objects.gsi_create_obj code for the fish you want.

Here are the fish codes:

Angelfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB03F

Anglerfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAFE6

Bass: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAFF0

Batfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x0E874

Betta: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB0B4

Blue Crawdad: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xFEB1

Bonefish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x1A79B

Catfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAF6E

Cichlid: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x171BE

Discus: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x171BF

Exotic Goldfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x171C0

Goldfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAF70

Gummie Guppie: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x1A799

Guppy: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB184

Kissing Gourami: objects.gsi_create_obj 0x0B0C2

Koi: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB04C

Minnow: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAFE4

Mountain Lionfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xFF4A

Perch: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB16C

Piranha: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAEF4

Rainbowfish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAEF1

Red Crawdad: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xFEB3

Red-Tailed Black Shark: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB082

Salmon: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB0A2

Sturgeon: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB101

Tetra: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB1DC

Tilapia: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xAF72

Treefish: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xE876

Trout: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB03B

Walleye: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xFFCD

Wolf Eel: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xB0A6

Yellow Perch: objects.gsi_create_obj 0xFF19

After you enter a code and press Enter, the game generates that fish near your Sim.

You can then pick it up and place it in a fish bowl.

This is particularly useful if you’re trying to get a specific rare fish without spending hours fishing for it.
