Even if two Sims used to date, broke up, and became strangers, they can still get back together. But there’s a catch: they’ll have to start their new romance journey from scratch.
You’ll need to use lots of friendly interactions to rebuild their relationship before romantic options appear again.
How to Bring Ex-Sims Back Together
If your Sims are still marked as exes in the relationship panel, the first step is to remove the ex-husband and ex-wife labels.
Have your Sim do activities that help them move on from their ex, such as meditation, yoga, or getting into fitness.
Wait until any negative feelings between them have faded. The Betrayed moodlet will temporarily block romantic relationships.
Next, initiate the Ask to just be friends interaction under Friendly Interactions. This will remove the ex-status and allow them to rebuild their romance.
Once the Go Steady option appears, you can move forward. Remember, the Go Steady option won’t appear until you’ve canceled the ex-status.
Go to the Romance Festival
To speed up a reunion, make sure your Sims are friends before the Romance Festival. Have them both attend and share cherry blossom tea to boost romance.
Afterward, pick your ex-Sim and choose Joke About Getting Together, then follow up with any romantic interactions. With a bit of luck, the date could even end in a proposal.
Another Way to Rekindle Romance
Some players have found that you don’t always need to focus on friendly interactions to fix a broken relationship in The Sims 4. They’ve successfully reunited their Sims just by consistently using romantic interactions.
It usually takes about 15 romantic interactions to refill the Friends bar. But if you spam romantic gestures, the other Sim might get annoyed or uncomfortable.
Eventually, the Go Steady option will appear.
Keep in mind, though, if the other Sim has started seeing someone else, they’ll need to end that relationship before they can get back together with their ex.
When rebuilding a lost relationship, the relationship bar will fill more slowly than usual. Sims hurt by a breakup are more hesitant to give their ex another chance.
