Turn Sims Into Popsicles in The Sims 4 [Death by Freezing]

In The Sims 4, your Sims can freeze to death if they stay in freezing weather for too long. This can happen even faster if they’re wearing the wrong clothes for winter, like summer outfits.

Toddlers and children in The Sims 4 are just as vulnerable to freezing as adults.

Toddlers go through one freezing stage, shown by a sad moodlet. But just like adults, if they stay in freezing temperatures too long, they can die from the cold.

Letting toddlers face the cold doesn’t trigger any visits from social workers.

Freezing Your Sims to Death in The Sims 4

To see your Sim freeze, you’ll need The Sims 4: Seasons expansion pack.

Wait for a blizzard to hit your Sims’ neighborhood. If the weather isn’t cooperating, use the Weather Control Device to create one.

Once the blizzard hits, send your Sim outside. EMake sure they’re wearing the wrong clothes for the cold, ideally summer outfits.

Within an hour, your Sim will begin to turn blue and struggle to move as hypothermia sets in.

It takes about 5 Sim hours for a Sim to freeze to death.

If you want to speed up your Sim’s chilly demise, try these methods:

  • Have your Sim swim for a bit, then leave them in the cold.
  • Throw water balloons at your Sim to make them freeze faster.
  • Have a ghost that died from freezing use the Cool Down Sim interaction on your Sim.

A Sim who froze to death will return as a ghost with a cold aura drifting off their body. That cold aura affects other Sims and can’t be blocked by warm clothing.

Ghosts give off the element that caused their death. In this case, the frozen ghost radiates cold, so nearby Sims can start feeling chilly too.

These ghosts can make other Sims freeze to death.

Sims Freezing to Death Inside Their Homes

Even if your Sims never go outside, they can still freeze to death at home if there’s no heat. To prevent this, install a thermostat and adjust the temperature. You’ll need to change the settings depending on the season and world. Set it to heat in winter and cool in summer.

Alternatively, you can go to the settings menu and turn off “Enable Temperature Effects on Sims” to avoid any problems.

Happy Simming!
