To start a Village Errand, introduce yourself to one of the special NPCs in Henford-on-Bagley. Once the Offer Help with Errands interaction becomes available, select it to see which errands that Sim currently has available.
The interaction is found under the Friendly social options. If the Sim doesn’t have an errand available, you may need to come back later.
Completing errands and getting to know the villagers can unlock additional errands. Some errands are part of longer sequences, so finishing one can lead to another task from the same Sim.
There are seven main NPCs who can give your Sims errands: Lavina Chopra, Rahul Chopra, Agnes Crumplebottom, Agatha Crumplebottom, Kim Goldbloom, Sara Scott, and Michael Bell.
Errands don’t usually make your Sim rich, but the rewards can be much more useful than the Simoleons themselves. Depending on the errand, you can receive things such as ingredients, animal treats, fertilizers, cross-stitch patterns, seeds, postcards, grocery delivery coupons, and livestock upgrade parts.
Livestock upgrade parts are particularly useful if your Sim keeps chickens, cows, or llamas because they can be used to upgrade the relevant animal housing.
EA specifically describes errands as a way to earn unique gifts while learning more about Henford-on-Bagley and its residents.
Your Sim can have up to three Village Errands active at the same time. You can accept all three from the same NPC or take errands from different villagers.
Only one of your Sims can work on a particular errand at a time, so you can’t have multiple Sims from the same household simultaneously completing the exact same errand.
There are seven main Henford-on-Bagley NPCs who offer Village Errands:
Lavina Chopra: The mayor of Henford-on-Bagley.
Rahul Chopra: The village grocery deliverer and Lavina’s son.
Agnes Crumplebottom: One of the garden shop owners.
Agatha Crumplebottom: The other garden shop owner.
Kim Goldbloom: The grocery shop owner.
Sara Scott: The owner of The Gnome’s Arms pub.
Michael Bell: The Creature Keeper.
Each NPC has their own errands and story-related tasks. You won’t necessarily see every errand at once, so check back with the villagers if you’re looking for a particular task or reward.

Village Errands aren’t a finite system that disappears permanently once you’ve completed the available story-related tasks.
After completing the specific errands associated with a villager, errands can continue to appear and recycle, with rewards varying between tasks.
That makes errands worth checking even after you’ve finished the main sequences. If you’re looking for something specific, such as a livestock upgrade part or another useful item, completing additional errands can give you more opportunities to receive it.
