Becoming a good doctor isn’t easy. Your Sim needs to examine lots of patients and perform different medical tests before they can confidently diagnose an illness.
The tricky part is that several illnesses can have similar symptoms, so getting the diagnosis right can sometimes be challenging.
To diagnose patients correctly in The Sims 4 Get to Work, examine the patient, run basic tests like taking their temperature or checking ears, and use X-ray scans to narrow down the illness choices.
Watch for visible symptoms like rashes, ear steam, or dizziness to match the correct treatment.
Make sure your Sim performs as many examinations as possible before making a diagnosis.
Follow the tasks shown in the work panel.
Try to perform all the tests on the same patient instead of moving on to someone else. The more information you collect, the easier it becomes to narrow down the possible illnesses.
You should also pay close attention to the patient’s symptoms. Look for things such as spots, rashes, unusual markings, itching, and other visible symptoms. Check their thought bubbles as well, as they can provide additional clues.
Not every test is available for every patient. For example, you can’t perform a treadmill test on children.
Fully upgrade the X-ray scanner and use it repeatedly to get the right diagnosis faster.
Start with the basic examinations, such as checking the patient’s ears and eyes, scanning their body, and taking their temperature.
Then refer the patient for an X-ray scan as many times as necessary until the game narrows the results down to a single diagnosis.
Skip the slower or less reliable examinations, including swabs and treadmill tests. Avoid house calls, they’re not that useful.
The downside is that patients may have to walk a long distance between their bed and the scanner.
If you regularly use this method, you can make things much faster by moving the X-ray scanner closer to the patient beds when editing the hospital.
Leveling up the Logic skill can help your Sim become better at diagnosing patients. A Focused mood is also useful when your Sim is working.
Charisma can also be helpful for doctors because they need to communicate with patients and gather information from them.
As your Sim gains experience in the Medical Career and examines more patients, you’ll also become more familiar with the symptoms associated with different illnesses.
Sometimes you won’t be able to narrow the diagnosis down to a single illness, even after performing all the available examinations.
If you’re left with two possible diagnoses, you’ll have to make your best guess and treat the patient. Afterward, you’ll receive a notification telling you whether your diagnosis was correct.
Don’t worry if you get it wrong. Keep examining patients and paying attention to their symptoms, and you’ll eventually get much better at recognizing the different illnesses.
