The Sims 4 has a lot of DLC, and buying Expansion Packs at full price can get expensive quickly. Fortunately, you don’t need to pay the standard price every time you want to add a new pack to your game.
The simplest way to save money is to wait for a sale instead of buying an Expansion Pack immediately after release.
The Sims 4 goes on sale at least four times a year, so there’s usually no need to pay full price for a pack.
If you’re buying multiple packs, check the Stack & Save option in the EA app.
It allows eligible Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs to be combined in the same purchase, with the discount increasing according to the number of eligible packs you add.
To use it, open the EA app, go to your Library, select The Sims 4, and open the Stack & Save section.
Add the eligible packs you’re interested in and check the cart to see the discount before paying.
Don’t assume every new Expansion Pack qualifies for Stack & Save.
Newer packs are often excluded from the Expansion Pack discounts.
So if you’re buying a brand-new pack, check its eligibility before building your purchase around Stack & Save.
Older packs are frequently discounted, while newer releases can remain closer to their regular price.
For example, EA’s store listing often shows older Expansion Packs at $19.99 compared with their regular $39.99 price, while newer releases have different discounts.
Don’t buy packs just because they’re on sale.
This is probably the biggest money-saving tip of all.
The Sims 4 has enough DLC that a “50% off” sale can still become an expensive shopping spree. Before buying, think about whether you’ll actually use the pack’s gameplay.
If you’re primarily interested in family gameplay, careers, occult Sims, farming, or vacations, prioritize packs that actually add those features.
Don’t feel like you need to own every pack. The Sims 4 works perfectly well with a smaller collection.
Choosing packs that match the way you actually play is usually a much better investment than trying to complete the entire DLC library.
