If your teenage Sim breaks the rules at Copperdale High, they can get detention.

Instead of going home after school or hanging out with friends at Plumbite Cove, your Sim has to spend two extra hours at school.

Your Sim can get detention for several different actions, including:

  • Skipping class
  • Being late to class
  • Leaving class early on exam days
  • Planting stink capsules in lockers
  • Pranking the whiteboard

Detention starts at 3 PM and ends at 5 PM.

To serve detention, go to the classroom where detention is being held. Then click on the whiteboard and select Serve Detention.

Re: Can You Get Detention For Leaving An Exam Early?

This is one of the stranger parts of the detention system in High School Years.

Your Sim can get detention for leaving class early on an exam day, even if they have already finished their exam.

In other words, your Sim can ace their exam and still get punished for leaving the classroom before the exam period officially ends.

To avoid this, click on your Sim and select Prepare for Next Task after they finish their exam. This should keep them in class until the exam period is over.

Re: What Happens During Detention?

There’s not much to detention. Your Sim has to remain at Copperdale High from 3 PM to 5 PM instead of leaving school for the day.

They’ll spend the time in a classroom with a teacher or the principal.

Once 5 PM arrives, detention ends, and your Sim is free to leave.

The detention system is fairly simple. There’s no major punishment beyond making your Sim stay at school for two additional hours, so getting detention isn’t exactly a disaster.

The easiest way to avoid detention is to attend your classes on time, stay in class until the scheduled end of the school day, and avoid pranking objects or planting stink capsules in lockers.
