Pufferfish Nigiri might look delicious, but it can be deadly. The Sims 4: City Living adds Death by Pufferfish, which can happen when a Sim eats a poor-quality serving of Pufferfish Nigiri.
The easiest way to trigger this death is to have a Sim with a low Cooking skill prepare Pufferfish Nigiri.
Sims with low Cooking skill are more likely to prepare a poor-quality version of the dish. Once it’s ready, have your Sim eat it.
There’s a chance the Sim will become poisoned and eventually die. The poisoning isn’t always immediate, so don’t assume your Sim is safe just because they survived the first few bites.
Sims who are already feeling very Uncomfortable have a higher chance of dying from the poisoned dish.
If you’re trying to trigger the death intentionally, serving poor-quality Pufferfish Nigiri to several Sims is an easy way to see who gets unlucky.
Sims who die from Pufferfish poisoning get a pretty fitting ghost detail: a pufferfish can be seen swimming around inside their ghost.
It’s certainly one of the stranger ways for a Sim to meet the Grim Reaper.
Your Sim needs to eat Pufferfish Nigiri before they can prepare it themselves.
The easiest way to get the dish is to purchase a Japanese Food Stall in Build Mode for 1,800 Simoleons. Hire a vendor for 100 Simoleons, then order Pufferfish Nigiri from the stall.
After eating the dish, your Sim will learn the recipe and can prepare it at home.
You can also catch Pufferfish while fishing near the docks in San Myshuno, although it’s a rare catch. Buying the dish from the Japanese food stall is generally much easier.
If you don’t want your Sim to die, be careful when eating Pufferfish Nigiri prepared by a Sim with a low Cooking skill.
A Sim with a higher Cooking skill is more likely to prepare a higher-quality version of the dish, which is safer to eat.
And if you’re playing with aliens, you don’t need to worry about this particular death. Aliens are immune to Pufferfish poisoning.
