Death by Meteorite in The Sims 4 can only happen when your Sim uses the small telescope to stargaze, and it only triggers at night.
Most of the time, stargazing is harmless, but every once in a while, the game throws in a surprise. If a meteor is on its way, you will see a notification warning that your Sim has noticed something heading straight for them.
As soon as that pops up, your Sim becomes terrified and gets a scared moodlet with some very dramatic text about a meteorite coming right at them. That panic does not last long.
The buff sticks around for about 18 in-game minutes, which means you have a very short window to act.
Your Sim needs to get indoors fast. If they stay outside, they will freeze up in fear, and the meteorite will slam into them. Death happens instantly, and the Grim Reaper appears right away.
Sims who die this way have a unique look afterward. Their ghost shows a small, burning meteor mark on their chest, which makes this death easy to recognize.
Even if several Sims are outside watching the stars together, only the one who spotted the meteor is in danger. Everyone else will be fine.
Death by Meteorite in The Sims 4 is rare, but it really comes down to how much your Sim stargazes. If you’re unlucky, it can even happen the very first time your Sim uses the telescope at night.
One last thing worth mentioning is that using the small telescope to spy on neighbors is totally safe. That activity will not trigger a meteorite, so your Sim can be nosy without risking their life.
Happy Simming!
