How to Get Better at Cross-Stitch in The Sims 4

Cross-stitching is one of the most charming hobbies in The Sims 4: Cottage Living. Your Sim can create beautiful pieces of art that work as decorations, gifts for other Sims, or even items to sell for a bit of extra cash.

Level Up Your Cross-Stitch in The Sims 4 Fast

New cross-stitch patterns are unlocked as your Sim practices. Leveling up the skill gradually gives access to more designs.

Talking to other Sims about cross-stitching can spark inspiration for new patterns.

Helping out villagers or offering gifts to wild animals sometimes results in new pattern ideas, too.

⇒ Quick Tip:

  • If you have The Sims 4: Nifty Knitting Stuff installed, Sims who are skilled at knitting will also pick up cross-stitching faster.

Use Cheats

If you want to skip the grind, there’s a cheat for that. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C, type testingcheats true, and then Shift-click on the cross-stitching box to unlock all patterns at once.

Your Sim can then use every design available in the game.

What to Do With Cross-Stitch Creations

When your Sim finishes a cross-stitch project, you can only place it on flat surfaces at first. If you want it on the wall, place the piece in your inventory and select Create Wall Mounted Copy.

Cross-stitch creations are a really fun way to make a home feel cozy. You can hang a bunch of pieces together on a wall with some paintings or other decorations.

Your Sims can also make cross-stitch items to give as gifts. It’s a nice way to strengthen friendships or even spark a bit of romance. Other Sims will really appreciate the effort.

And if your Sim wants to make a little money, you can sell cross-stitch creations too. Set up a stall or put them in your inventory to sell, and suddenly your crafting hobby can pay off.

Happy Simming!
