Cowplants in The Sims 4: Grow Them… Just Don’t Get Eaten

To grow a CowPlant in Sims 4, start by finding a Cowplant Berry. You can get one by fishing, digging for treasure, exploring space, or grafting a dragonfruit with a snapdragon. Fishing is usually the easiest way.

Once you have a CowPlant Berry, plant it like any other seed. You don’t need a specific gardening skill for this.

As your CowPlant grows, make sure it gets enough sunlight, water, food, and attention to stay healthy.

With proper care, your CowPlant will thrive and add a fun twist to your Sim’s life in The Sims 4.

Feeding Your Cowplant

Your CowPlant needs to be fed every 12 hours to stay happy and healthy. If it doesn’t get fed, it will try to eat your Sims and eventually wither away and die.

If your Sim is busy with a career outside the house, it might be challenging to feed the CowPlant every 12 hours.

However, if your Sim has a work-from-home job, they should have no trouble feeding the CowPlant at least twice a day. Ideally, try to feed it four times a day or every six hours for optimal care.

If you forget to feed your Cowplant, it’ll first stick out its cake tongue to try and eat nearby Sims. If it doesn’t get fed after another 12 hours, it’ll eventually wither and die.

When a Cowplant dies, it leaves behind a really cool skeleton. You can use it as a creepy decoration for your vampire or mad scientist Sims.

Interacting with the CowPlant

Sims have two options when interacting with the Cowplant: they can either Feed the Cowplant or Eat the Cake.

If a Sim tries to eat the cake, the cowplant will swallow them and then spit them out. They won’t die but will leave behind an essence of their mood. Other Sims can then milk the Cowplant to experience that mood.

If the same Sim gets chewed again soon after, they’ll die.

Sims who are eaten by CowPlants and die will leave behind the Essence of Life, which other Sims can milk to add a few days to their own lifespan.

Typically, your Sim won’t die the first time they eat the Cowplant’s cake. They’ll just get the Drained moodlet. It usually takes two attempts to kill a Sim with the Cowplant’s cake.

Your Sims shouldn’t autonomously eat a cowplant’s cake after getting the Drained moodlet. The only time they’ll go for the cake is if they’re starving and have no other food available. Otherwise, they generally avoid it.

As you can see, Cowplants provide a quick and effective way to get rid of the Sims you don’t particularly like.

To keep your Sims safe from Cowplants, remember that they won’t munch on Sims with low hygiene levels.

If you want to steer clear of accidents, put up a fence and gate around the Cowplant.

You can also pop them into the household inventory. Only take them out when a Sim needs to grow one for an aspiration to prevent anyone from getting eaten by accident.

⇒ Fun Facts:

To graft a CowPlant, plant a Dragonfruit and a Snapdragon. Once they grow, take cuttings from each fruit. Then, graft one plant with the cutting from the other to produce the Cowplant Berry.

Your Plantsim can absorb solar energy from dead cowplants as much as you want. With this, your Plantsim should never wilt.
