How to Arrest the Right Suspect in The Sims 4

If you’re playing as a detective in The Sims 4, it’s important to catch the right person when solving cases. This helps you do well in your job. You can’t choose a random Sim to arrest, you must follow the case clues.

Sims in the criminal career can get arrested if caught doing something illegal. They’ll end up in jail for a certain number of days based on the seriousness of their actions.

Here are some easy ways to make sure you’re catching the right suspects.

Keep Your Sim Focused

It’s best to keep your Sim feeling focused while they’re working on cases. This helps them improve their detective skills faster and make smarter choices.

⇒ Tip: Hang a painting that helps with focus in the interrogation room. Something like a space picture or a math diagram can do the trick.

The Genius trait is super helpful because it can help your Sim stay Focused. It improves the Sim’s ability to analyze evidence, which is crucial for solving cases effectively.

Grab the Observant Reward

Sims with this trait can quickly pick up on other Sims’ traits when they first meet them. It’s a handy skill that lets your detective Sim easily spot Sims involved in the Criminal career.

Even if your Sim doesn’t have this trait, they can still learn about a Sim’s traits by using the Get to Know interaction.

Carefully Check the Crime Scene

Talk to the witnesses both inside and outside the crime scene. Sims lingering outside are likely witnesses.

Look for anything damaged or out of place, and don’t forget to click on the ground for extra clues. Dust for fingerprints, gather as much evidence as possible, and use the lab equipment to analyze it.

Each time you add clues, you’ll get a new descriptor, such as:

  • Gender (Male/Female)
  • Age group (Teen/Adult/Elder)
  • Hair color
  • Clothing color
  • Traits

You need multiple clues to narrow your suspect list down.

Before making an arrest, ensure that your suspect matches several traits from the clues in your notebook. Avoid arresting someone based on just one matching trait.

Engage in Deep Conversations

When you suspect you’ve found the right Sim, engage in deep conversations and ask plenty of questions. Remember, the culprit will match the description found in the evidence.

Use the Suspect’s Mood During Interrogation

During interrogation, leverage the suspect’s mood to your advantage. For instance, if they seem worried, use tactics like describing the horrors of prison to encourage a confession.

⇒ Tip: Stick to evidence-based interrogation instead of bluffing. Present evidence gradually until the confession bar fills up for a successful outcome.

If you have arrested the right Sim and extracted a confession, you have successfully solved the case.

How to Arrest a Detective in The Sims 4

In The Sims 4: Get to Work, you cannot interrogate and arrest other detectives. If your suspect happens to be a fellow detective, the Arrest option will not appear.

You need to have that Sim quit their job before you can arrest them. In The Sims 4, suspects spawn randomly, and sometimes the suspect happens to be a detective.

You can build a friendly relationship with that detective outside of work. Then, through friendly and deep conversation interactions, suggest that they change careers.

If that doesn’t work, try inviting them to join your household, have them quit their job, and then remove them from your household.

You can’t arrest someone in your household, that’s why you need to kick them out.

You should now be able to arrest your suspect.

Happy Simming!
