Your Sim can give their apartment key to friends, allowing them to visit the household more freely. To give someone a key, your Sim needs to have a Good Friends relationship with them.
First, invite the Sim you want to give a key to over to your apartment. Your Sim must be at home for the option to appear.
Then:
- Select the Sim you want to give the key to.
- Open the Friendly interaction menu.
- Select Give Apartment Key.
- The other Sim will now have a key to your apartment.
If Give Apartment Key doesn’t appear, check your relationship with that Sim. Your Sims need to be good friends before the interaction becomes available.
If you’re not good friends yet, use friendly interactions to improve your relationship and try again.
There is no fixed limit on the number of Sims your Sim can give an apartment key to. As long as the interaction is available for the other Sim, you can give keys to multiple friends.
Sims with your apartment key can visit your home without being invited. They may show up at different times and use objects in your apartment, including the TV, computer, bathroom, bed, and kitchen appliances.
This can be useful if you want friends or family members to drop by regularly. It can also make it easier for other Sims to spend time with your household without needing an invitation every time.
The downside is that giving someone a key can result in them visiting much more often than you might expect.
They may turn up while your Sim is sleeping, eating, working, or even while the household is away.
If you have several Sims with keys, your apartment can quickly start feeling like a public space.
If you’ve given someone a key and no longer want them to have access to your apartment, you can take it back.
Select the Sim who has your key and look through the Friendly interactions for the option to Revoke Apartment Key. Select it to remove their access.
You can give them a key again later if you change your mind.
