Teenagers can absolutely live by themselves in The Sims 4. You can move them to a different household so they live independently. You can also send them to live alone straight from CAS. Teen-only households are fully possible.
There are a few ways this can happen naturally too. Teens can end up living alone when the last adult in the household dies. They can also take care of their younger siblings and become their caregivers.
Living solo doesn’t excuse a teen from their responsibilities. They still need to go to school. They also need to pay the bills like anyone else.
How to Make a Teenager Live Alone in The Sims 4:
- Navigate to Manage Worlds
- Go to Manage Households
- Select the household where your teen lives
- Click on Transfer Sims between households
- Select an existing household or create a new one
- Select the teen you want to transfer
- Hit the transfer arrow
You can also use the Phone icon and select Split From Household and Move. Teens can take other household members with them when they move out too.
Getting a part-time job is a big no-no for me when I’m playing with teenage Sims.
Instead, I like to focus on a hobby that can help them earn money. Hobbies such as painting can bring in more cash than a part-time job. It’s my go-to strategy for helping teenage Sims make ends meet without punching a clock.
Teenage Sims can invite other teens to move in together.
This option is available in the Friendly menu. To unlock it, you’ll need to level up the Friendship bar through friendly or romantic interactions.
You can also skip the menu option entirely. Just go to household management and move the teen Sim directly into another teenager’s household.
