Once the Family Leave option becomes available, you’ll receive a pop-up notification. To enable it, navigate to the Household section on your phone and choose Family Leave.

This allows your Sim to take some time off from work during and shortly after pregnancy to care for the new baby. The length of family leave depends on the Sim’s career and work performance.

When Can Sims Take Family Leave?

When your Sim is pregnant, they’ll still need to go to work during the first two trimesters. Family Leave isn’t available until the third trimester kicks in.

Once your Sim hits the third trimester, you’ll get a notification letting you know that Family Leave is now an option.

The cool thing is both parents can take Family Leave before and after the baby arrives, and you’ll still get paid for those days.

While it’s not mandatory to take Family Leave right away, it’s a good idea to give yourself some time to help out with the baby once they’re born.

Oh, and one more thing to remember: if you don’t take good care of your baby, the game might take them away. So, be sure to tend to their needs!

To use Family Leave in The Sims 4, you have to call in for it every single day you want to take off. Otherwise, your Sim might unexpectedly head back to work the next day.

If your Sim ends up going to work and there’s no adult around to care for the baby, a nanny will show up. But let’s be honest, nannies aren’t always the best solution.

If you want top-notch care for your kids and an easier life for your Sim, consider hiring a butler instead.

The best strategy is for the parents to spend some quality time with the baby to build a strong bond. If you’re eager to see your little one grow up faster, you can always age them up to a toddler.

You’ll be amazed at how quickly they start learning new skills!

Happy Simming!
