Did you know you can form a special bond with Patchy the Scarecrow? If you own Seasons, you can actually help him come to life, make him your gardening assistant, and even marry him.
How to Befriend Patchy
At first, Patchy doesn’t have a lot to offer. Your Sim can chat with him about birds, make small talk, share a few harvest jokes, or tease him about scaring crows. If you’re nice to him, Patchy will thank you by gifting a Scarecrow Outfit and Hat you can use in CAS.
Once you become friends, two new options appear: Ask for Gardening Tips and Check Pockets for Seeds.
Asking for tips helps boost your Sim’s Gardening skill, which is great if you’re working toward the Freelance Botanist aspiration.
Checking his pockets gives your Sim random seeds. Sometimes, you’ll even get rare ones if you’re lucky.
How to Bring Patchy to Life in The Sims 4
To animate Patchy, you first need to max out your Friendship bar with him. Once you’re good friends, he’ll come to life every day around noon.
When he animates, Patchy jumps right into action: watering plants, fertilizing them, and helping with other gardening tasks. With him around, you won’t need to hire a gardener.
Until your relationship is strong enough, though, he’ll stay in his scarecrow form. And getting to that point can take quite a bit of time.
Get Patchy to Help with Gardening
You can bring Patchy to life so he can lend a hand in the garden. Once animated, he’ll water plants, weed them, and fertilize them. With Patchy around, your crops grow faster and tend to be of higher quality.
Just remember, Patchy only helps during the day. After 5 PM, he returns to being an ordinary scarecrow. Patchy’s animated life lasts for only 6 hours. However, if you add him to your household, he can remain with you indefinitely.
And whenever your Sim gets gardening tips from Patchy, they’ll also receive a Focused mood boost.
How to Add Patchy to Your Household
If you want Patchy the Straw Man in your Sim’s household, you’ll need to use cheats. Press Control + Shift + C, type testingcheats on, then Shift-click Patchy and choose Add to Family.
You can’t ask Patchy to move in normally, even if you’re best friends. That option just isn’t available. Cheats are the only way to bring him into your household.
The fun part? You can actually fill your entire home with Patchies if you really want to.
⇒ Pro Tip:
- You can also add Patchy to your household in his human form, where he appears as a regular Sim wearing a scarecrow outfit. If you remove the scarecrow outfit, you’ll find he’s just a regular bald Sim.
Woohoo or Marry Patchy
Now that Patchy is part of your household, interact with him like any other Sim. You can choose to woohoo, marry him, and even “Try for Baby.”
Interestingly, Patchy’s offspring won’t be any different from those with a regular Sim partner.
They won’t be human-pumpkin hybrids. The genetics system ensures that Patchy’s children mostly take after their mothers.
Learn More About Patchy
Patchy doesn’t have fixed traits or aspirations. They’re random, and every scarecrow is a little different.
Sometimes he might roll a troublesome trait, like Kleptomaniac, so don’t be shocked if items start disappearing around your home.
Patchy also never gets naked. He stays in his scarecrow outfit no matter what, even in the shower.
Vampires can drink Patchy’s blood and even turn him into a vampire. But if that happens, he can still return to normal by going back to his post.
Happy Simming!
