Sims love having friends over, and at parties, even random Sims can show up. But sometimes, they just don’t want to leave.
The weird part is, if you try the “Ask to leave” option, the game acts like they’re already on their way out.
If you’re dealing with these stubborn houseguests, I’ve got some solutions to get them moving.
You have three quick interaction options to get unwanted Sims to leave. Open the interaction panel and choose one:
Ask To Leave
Go Away
Go Home
The “Go Home” option works best. It gets them out without any fuss.
You can select “Ask to Leave,” but it might make your guests feel offended. This can negatively impact your Sim’s relationships or reputation.
But if these options aren’t available or fail to work, there are other tips and tricks you can use.
Have some patience. Sims you’ve interacted with on your home lot might hang around for a few more hours after the interaction. They should leave by the end of the day.
If Sims are staying in your house longer, things can get a bit more complicated.
Add the Sim to Your Contacts
Make sure the Sim who won’t leave is in your list of contacts.
Go to a Public Place
Find a bench in a park or any random place in the neighborhood.
Select Chat with the Problematic Sim
Click on the bench and select “Chat with.”
Choose the Sim from your list and hit OK.
This action will remove them from your house and bring them to your current location.
Mission Accomplished
You can now return home and leave them at the public place.
Sometimes, random Sims show up on your home lot. They might come out of nowhere or be friends of a friend. This often happens with townies who have the Always Welcome trait.
Chat with the Random Sim
Have your Sim start a conversation with the random Sim.
Go to a Community Lot
Move to any community lot you choose.
Open the Stories Panel
Click the Stories Panel at the bottom left of the screen.
Select the Relationship Panel
Click the Relationship Panel at the top of the screen.
Call the Random Sim Over
Select the Socialize option and call the random Sim. They will come to your current location, leaving your house.
Use the Private Dwelling Lot Trait
This prevents random Sims from coming to your house.
Note: This trait also keeps out family and friends who don’t live there permanently.
Lock your doors. It’s as simple as that.
If townies have already entered your house, lure them outside and then lock the door. They may still hang around on your property, but they won’t be able to enter the house.
If your Sim has the Mean trait, you can try to make the unwanted visitor angry and hope they’ll leave. Insult them or use bad words to make them angry enough to leave.
Use this method only if you don’t care about the relationship with the Sim.
Many Sims 4 players struggle to get ghosts out of their houses.
Choose a Sim who lives in the same household as the ghost Sim. Then locate the tombstone or urn of the ghost Sim.
Select the option that allows you to send the ghost back to their realm. This should remove the ghost from your house.
Happy Simming!
