Prom is one of the main events introduced with The Sims 4 High School Years. It takes place at the Copperdale High Auditorium every Saturday from 7 PM to 11 PM, giving teenage Sims the opportunity to attend prom every week.
Unlike real-life prom, Sims don’t have to wait an entire school year for another chance. Your teen can attend multiple proms before graduating or aging up.
Prom events take place every week in The Sims 4.
The weekly schedule is intentional. Having prom every Saturday gives teenage Sims a chance to experience the event regardless of when they started high school.
This is particularly useful if you play rotationally. You can switch between households and take different teenage Sims to prom instead of having to wait for another in-game year.
Prom continues to be available while your Sim is a teenager, including after they have already attended a previous prom.
You can simply skip the event if you don’t want to attend. Going to prom is optional.
You don’t have to attend prom every Saturday. When the event comes up, you can choose to skip it if your Sim has other plans.
This is also useful if prom happens to overlap with another event, holiday, or storyline you’re playing.
Your teen can ask another Sim to prom before the event. There are several ways to do this, including using a promposal sign or leaving a promposal in the other Sim’s locker.
You can ask another teen to go as your date or ask them to attend as friends. NPC Sims can also ask your Sim to prom.
Accepting a promposal can create a Deeply Connected sentiment between the two Sims, depending on their relationship.
You don’t need a prom date.
Your Sim can attend prom alone. Having a romantic partner isn’t required, and you can also attend with friends.
You can invite friends over before prom and get ready together, then head to the auditorium when the event begins.
Prom is a good excuse to give your teen a special outfit and hairstyle. You can choose their formalwear through Create-a-Sim before the event or change their outfit before heading to prom.
You can also practice or plan your Sim’s dance moves and spend the evening dancing with other teens.
Prom includes voting for Prom Royalty and Prom Jester. Your Sim can participate in the voting and can also campaign for Prom Royalty.
Popularity and relationships with other teens can be useful if you’re trying to make your Sim more well-known at school.
Your Sim can also build their social circle by talking to other students during the event.
Once you’re at the Copperdale High Auditorium, your Sim can socialize with other teens, dance, take part in prom activities, and spend time with their date or friends.
You don’t have to stick with the Sim you arrived with. Prom is a good opportunity to meet other teens and develop friendships or romantic relationships.
After prom ends, your Sim may be invited to an after-prom party. This gives you another opportunity to spend time with other teens after the main event.
The invitation isn’t something you need to accept if you don’t want to continue the night.
