In The Sims 4, burglars are Sims who randomly break into your house to steal things. They sneak around at night and take whatever’s valuable.
And if burglars weren’t enough, Sims with the Kleptomaniac trait will happily steal valuable items from your household whenever you’re not looking.
In Eco Lifestyle, there’s even a Neighborhood Action Plan called “Sharing is Caring,” which promotes stealing. Anyone can come to your house and steal your stuff without consequences.
If other Sims are taking your stuff, you can’t stop them or say anything about it.
However, you can get even by using the “Attempt to Swipe” interaction to steal things from them, too.
But how do you get stolen items back from burglars or kleptos?
Unless you control the thief, you won’t get anything back. The only way to get your stuff back is to play as the Sim that stole your valuable things and empty their inventory.
Add them to your household, grab your stuff from their inventory, and then remove them from the family.
After that, lock all your doors specifically for that Sim to prevent them from entering your house.

- To prevent townies from stealing stuff from your house or lot, build fences around your lot and lock all of your doors.
