Do This to Find Mermaids in The Sims 4

Mermaids are one of the most fascinating occult life states in The Sims 4, introduced with the Island Living expansion pack.

Where to Find Mermaids in The Sims 4

The tropical world of Sulani is where mermaids live and thrive. Check the ocean waters around Ohan’ali Town and Mua Pel’am. You’ll often see them swimming around.

They often gather near the volcano, so spending time there increases your chances of spotting one.

In Island Living, asking locals about mermaids might not help. Some of them could be mermaids in disguise.

Mermaids in Disguise

On land, mermaids look like ordinary Sims. The only way to confirm if someone is a mermaid is to build a relationship with them until the “Ask if Mermaid” interaction unlocks. If they are, they’ll admit it (sometimes with a bit of hesitation).

If you’re still not sure whether a Sim is a mermaid, watch for these signs:

  • They may refuse to eat regular food and prefer fish or kelp.
  • When swimming, they’ll have a sparkling aura.
  • They can use special powers like calling dolphins or summoning ocean threats.

If you befriend a mermaid, you can invite them to move in and then travel with them anywhere. They’ll retain their mermaid abilities across all worlds.

A Guaranteed Way to Meet a Mermaid

If you want a guaranteed way to meet a mermaid without waiting for a random encounter, keep an eye out for Nalani Mahi’ai, the only premade mermaid introduced with Island Living.

She lives in the Sulani world and is instantly recognizable by her bright aura and friendly personality.

You may find Nalani working as a vendor at one of the food kiosks in Lani St. Taz. She’ll often appear at community spaces, and around beaches.

While she doesn’t have a fixed residence, you’re likely to come across her during your explorations.

Nalani is cheerful and loves the ocean, making her an easy Sim to befriend. Unlike randomly generated mermaids, she’s designed to showcase the mermaid life state and its abilities.

If you’re also a mermaid, spotting her swimming in the water is much easier, and befriending her becomes a breeze.

After building a friendship and inviting her to join your household, she may become a permanent resident, provided she accepts your invitation.

Happy Simming!
