How to Make Female Sims Experience Their Period in The Sims 4

Female Sims do not experience menstruation or periods in The Sims 4. This aspect of real-life reproductive biology is not simulated in the game. There are also no in-game mechanics for pregnancy prevention or birth control.

While in The Sims 4 game, female Sims don’t have periods, players can add this feature using mods. The most well-known mods for adding periods are WickedWhims and Slice of Life.

How to Enable or Disable Periods in The Sims 4

  2. Click on the Whims purple heart icon to open the Settings menu.
  3. In the settings list, find Sex settings.
  4. Go to Pregnancy mode.
  5. Choose Menstrual mode to enable or disable this feature.

What You Should Know About Sim Periods

With WickedWhims or Slice of Life mods, players can let their teen and adult female Sims have periods, affecting all female Sims on the lot.

A Period Controller assigns a special token to eligible female Sims on the lot, including new arrivals and non-playable characters.

Sim periods typically last between 8 and 16 hours and occur every 4 days, unless a Sim is pregnant.

Once a Sim experiences their first period, they can use the Kaya Period Tracker to monitor their cycle.

When it’s time for their period, Sims have the option to use tampons or pads to manage their flow. The Tampon Controller reminds your Sim to change her tampon every 4 hours during her menstrual cycle.

After their period ends, Sims enter a fertility window during which they have the chance to become pregnant.

Sims who are approaching their period may experience PMS symptoms such as physical cramps, nausea, fatigue, and mood swings. These symptoms can affect their energy levels, social interactions, and overall mood.

You can help your Sims manage these symptoms by resting, eating comfort foods, or engaging in relaxing activities.

Many gamers choose to disable the period feature because it can make their Sims too moody.

For instance, if players assign a task to a Sim who is on her period, she may stop what she’s doing because she feels uncomfortable.

Once a Sim reaches old age, they no longer experience periods.

Happy Simming!
